A manifesto, lightly
just fucking
use poke.
You don't need another dashboard, another cron job, or another forest of API keys to run your life. You need to text a thing and have the thing get done.
The way you're doing it now
You built a machine to do the thing.
Then you built a second machine to babysit the first machine. Now you maintain machines for a living and the thing still isn't done.
Bloated dashboards
Seventeen tabs, forty-two widgets, and a settings page so deep it has its own settings page. You came to do one thing. You left having configured nothing.
Custom cron jobs
You wrote a job to run at 6am. It runs at 6am UTC, which is 11pm your time, which is why you got paged. Nobody knows the syntax. Stop pretending you do.
Manual scripts
A Python file called final_v3_REAL.py that only runs on your laptop, only when the moon is right, and only if you remember to plug it in by hand every single morning.
Juggling API keys
Half of them are in a .env, half are in a Slack DM to yourself, one is committed to a public repo, and the important one expired last Tuesday.
Or, you know
just fucking
use poke instead.
Tell it what you want in plain English. It remembers, it follows up, it pokes you when it matters and shuts up when it doesn't. No cron. No keys. No dashboard graveyard. One conversation.
Zero dashboards
The interface is a text thread. You already know how to use it.
Zero cron jobs
Say “every Friday at 5” once. It just remembers, in your timezone.
Zero keys to lose
It does the work for you. Nothing to rotate, leak, or forget.
